New platforms for the furnishing industry: ‘imm cologne’ and ‘idd cologne’ take off

Two events, one goal: added value for the industry

The world of furniture is undergoing an exciting reorganisation: Koelnmesse is launching a strong trade fair duo from 2025 – the ‘imm cologne’ and the ‘interior design days cologne’ (idd cologne). With a revised concept and a precise focus on different market segments, these events are set to bring a breath of fresh air to the interior design industry.

The ‘imm cologne’ remains true to its consumer-orientated focus. From 20 to 23 January 2026, exhibitors will present market-ready furnishing trends from the entire home sector. The focus will be on the international furniture trade, which should benefit from a more compact and effective trade fair.

The newly introduced ‘idd cologne’ format will focus on high-quality premium brands from the residential and hospitality interiors sectors. From 26 to 29 October 2025, Cologne will be the stage for exclusive design and professional project planning. This event is aimed specifically at architects, interior designers and other experts.

Cooperation and future viability

The reorganisation was developed in close cooperation with the furniture industry and represents the answer to changing market requirements. Gerald Böse, Chairman of Koelnmesse, emphasises: ‘We see ourselves as the growth engine of the industry and offer new perspectives and confidence for the future with these specialised trade fair formats.’

Leo Lübke, President of the Association of the German Furniture Industry, adds: ‘As Europe’s leading furniture nation, we need centralised industry shows to position ourselves against the competition.’
What does this mean for the industry?

The two formats make it possible to address specific target groups more precisely and strengthen the international competitiveness of the German furniture industry. For exhibitors and visitors, a clear structure is created that addresses individual requirements and offers a platform for innovation and growth.
